Andrea Patiño Contreras, a native Colombian, created the work on view in her multimedia exhibit From the World to Lynn: Stories of Immigration while in Massachusetts as a CDS Lewis Hine Documentary Fellow. She came to the U.S. at age 19, and was amazed at the “magnitude of the immigration phenomenon” here, a subject she explored in Lynn, Massachusetts, where foreign-born residents make up 30 percent of the population, including large Cambodian, Bhutanese, and Iraqi communities. The work includes black-and-white photos, audio oral histories, and an interactive website.
